Hi, everyone,
I am excited to announce an upcoming professional development opportunity for you!
Beginning the week of July 2, the web-based, self-paced program titled "Learning 2.0 @ EKU Libraries" will get underway. Have you heard about blogs? Read about wikis? Wondered what the heck a podcast was? Here is your chance to learn about these technologies (and more!), collectively called "Web 2.0," from the comfort of your own computer. Each week for 10 weeks, a different member of the Learning 2.0 planning team will publish 2-4 lessons on that week's topic. Each lesson will be a 15-minute activity involving reading a web page, performing a short "Discovery" exercise to get your feet wet, and writing a paragraph or two about what you learned.
Each week will be "hosted" by a member of the planning team, who will be available to answer your questions. Library faculty and staff are encouraged to collaborate and share what they learn, and we welcome participants and non-participants alike to join us at the end of each week for a brown-bag discussion of that week's topic.
What's in it for you? FUN! Also, to encourage participation, we are planning a celebration at the end of the program. Those who complete all the exercises will be eligible to win one of two or three cool prizes at the end!
Stay tuned to your in box next week for details! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask any member of the planning team.
Thanks, and we look forward to getting underway.
